We had a brilliant stay at this cottage (even though the weather was not kind to us!) The cottage is in a perfect location with two pubs within walking distance serving lovely food and a very nice takeaway just a stone's throw away. We really loved the proximity to Woolacombe beach (just a short drive or walk away) and it was lovely to be able to introduce my children to the beach where I had so many happy childhood holidays. There is also a children's playground just a short walk behind the property and some beautiful national trust land walks to go on to blow the cobwebs away after one too many cream teas!! The cottage itself was beautiful - rooms were very spacious and well decorated and we loved the open plan living area space upstairs (and the beautiful view from the dining room and balcony). We were greeted on arrival with fresh scones and jam which was delicious after our long drive. My little boy then discovered the treasure trove of toys and books underneath his bed and he was thrilled! Such a lovely surprise! The 'guide' within the property was really useful for local eateries and day trips. We can't recommend this cottage highly enough and we will definitely be booking in for a return visit! Thank you so much. September 2017
Just back from our fifth consecutive year at Old Bakery Cottage. A beautiful house full of character in the majestic village of Mortehoe overlooking Woolacombe bay. A great base for everything in the local area - Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and Bideford all within easy reach. Having made the journey to get there, not much further on to venture into Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and South Devon. Facilities at the house more than adequate for a family of five - compact kitchen, outdoor dining area, comfortable beds and a lovely welcome pack - all that you need to enjoy the relaxing air of a great part of the uk. Staff at Holidayhomehunter have always been helpful and are centrally based in Woolacombe if you require any assistance. I have a feeling this won't be our last visit. July 2017
We had another lovely holiday at the old bakery. A fabulous walk from Mortehoe to the lighthouse with a well deserved lunch after at The Ship Aground. Surfing lesson went down a treat with my 9yr old daughter. Great views from the cottage and fresh air aplenty! We had to call our contact Claire when the fuse blew, and she came straight away to fix it. Service couldn't be better. Thank you and see you again next year. April 2017
To all of you that make our holiday so enjoyable a big thank you. We are always pleased to see the Cottage and all the improvements that have been made. We love the fantastic views , of both the sea and country. It is always spotless and very well equipped. It is the shortest of walks to the Chichester Arms . A very good pub that sells a range of ales and other drinks. The food is delicious and all the staff friendly and helpful. The walking is great and the beach at Woolacombe award winning. You can probably guess why we have visited 6 times and are looking forward to returning next year. October 2016
We had a great time last week in the old bakery, the cottage was perfect and had everything we needed. We will definitely book again for next year. The kids(aged 6 and 8) loved it,especially the toys and books. The only thing I would say is that it wasn't clear where to leave the recycling bin. April 2016
Just returned from a truly lovely holiday in Mortehoe, Woolacombe staying at the Old Bakery Cottage. It's location is perfect and the sea views from the roof terrace were breathtaking. The cottage was spotlessly clean and was equipped to a high standard, with everything needed for a self catering holiday. The beds were so comfortable with beautifully clean and fresh smelling bedding that it was hard to get up in a morning. The master bedroom and ensuite had been newly refurbished and the whole house was tastefully decorated. It was also very spacious and plenty of room for a family of 6, although there were only 4 of us. The response from holiday home hunter when there was a problem was quick and efficient, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the holiday. In the village there were 3 pubs all selling food, and a fish and chip shop that also sold seafood platters which we tried and would recommend. If we lived locally it would definitely become our favourite take out :) The tea shop across from the grave yard served lovely snacks and were very helpful when we needed to contact an emergency doctor as we had no mobile signal. Loads of fantastic walks and views to enjoy. We walked down to Gunta beach which was well worth the effort but make sure you check the tide times to avoid getting trapped down there. The only downside was the heating system was noisy when it came on and went off which initially disturbed us, but we adjusted the times following the simple instructions in the information file and this solved the problem. This was a lovely place from which to explore the surrounding areas. We will definitely be returning to The Old Bakery Cottage in the future. August 2015
We had a brilliant week with our grown up daughters and son in law week in the Old Bakery Cottage, a delightful, quirky property in the centre of Mortehoe, with stunning views of the sea from the roof terrace and dining area. A wonderful base for a family holiday within walking distance of pubs, spectacular coastal walks with amazing sunsets and seals, beaches and a fish and chip shop on the doorstep - what more could you want! The cottage is very comfortable and extremely well equipped with so many extras - especially for children (toys/videos/fishing nets). Our children were a little old for the toys (ages 21, 24 and 28) but we still enjoyed using the nets for the rock pools and making sand castles on the nearby beach at Woolacombe! The decor is lovely in the cottage and we really liked the various artworks. The bedrooms were very comfy with nice bedding and fluffy towels. We managed as a party of six adults, and our two youngest daughters were happy to relive childhood days and share the bunk beds in the small room, but probably the cottage is more suited to parties of six that include children, rather than six adults as space on the sofas was limited when we all sat down to watch a DVD. Having Wi-Fi was a definite plus for our family. The village itself is delightful, and we made good use of the pubs, eating out a couple of times and watching the local Sea Shanty singing group and Morris Men one evening. We especially loved being able to walk onto the coastal paths so easily and enjoyed walks everyday despite the mixed weather. We hope to return one day and would definitely recommend Holiday Home Hunters as Maddy responded very promptly to any queries we had. Thank you for a great holiday. August 2015

Thanks for yet another fantastic break. We had a brilliant time. Feb 2013
Had a great week. Weather was good, lots of nice walks. Visited Exmoor Zoo, which is worth a visit if you want a day away from beach.  Loved the quirkiness of the cottage.  Excellent views from the lounge and terrace. We liked the size of the place, plenty of room for families. Will definitely consider coming back. February 2013
Lovely comfortable spacious cottage and luckily very cosy and warm! The worst weather we’ve had in 12 years of English holidays – but our best holiday ever. Great place to relax and watch weather on a rainy day. Great surf. August 2012
Really enjoyed staying at the cottage again – full of character – love the bedroom corridor food best at Chichester pub and excellent at the Rockleigh Resturant. Enjoyed bracing walks this week and the views from the old coastguard lookout viewpoint. Hartland Quay stunning in fresh weather – stunning views of cliffs and surf, and pub not bad too.
